Soft magnetic
composites (SMC) are insulation coated
ferrous powder metal (P/M) materials that are molded into a
net or near net shape component. A high pressure
compaction process is used to mold the SMC component into a
complex shape capable of producing three dimensional
magnetic flux patterns. Shape capability and unique
magnetic properties make components produced from SMC's good
alternatives to lamination stack technology.
Burgess-Norton specializes in compaction of complex components to
densities which optimize ferromagnetic properties, followed by a
finely tuned heat treatment process which has been perfected
through multiple Designs of Experiment. The result -
maximum performing components for your ferromagnetic
applications. Burgess-Norton has been involved in over 30 development
projects with nearly 20 customers. Success has been
achieved by rapid growth in electro magnetic expertise as well
as process development and testing. Burgess-Norton's
history of successful product development provides customers a
reliable platform for success.
Soft
magnetic composite products
include stators and linear actuators.
B-N
customers appreciate the value offered by powder metal
technology compared with alternative technologies.
Coupled with technical support, rapid prototyping, in house
tool production and secondary operations capabilities,
Burgess-Norton is the logical choice as your
for soft magnetic composite products.
